About Us
In 1932, Arlo Woods of Phoenix, NY started A.R. Woods Memorial Company, at its present location in Phoenix, NY. In 1964, Mr. Woods retired, and sold the company to Richard and Kenneth Sweet. At that time, the Sweets changed the company name to Sweet-Woods Memorial Company. The Sweets continued the tradition of selling superior quality memorials, as well as civic and community memorials, serving all of Central New York. In 1995, the Sweets retired, and sold the company to Glenn and Jeanne Candee, retaining the name of Sweet-Woods Memorial Company.
The Candees expanded their operation in 2000 by purchasing OConnor Memorials, located in Brewerton, NY. Further expansion was made in 2009 when they opened an office in Camillus, NY.
In the fall of 2010, the name of OConnor Memorials was changed to Sweet-Woods Memorial Company, and today, all three locations share the name.
